i was reading a post on here and the poster said she went to the door twice because her mother made her go again when she didn't see her children talk to the man.

ok, its been a few years, but for the first time i thought of "recreational vehicle" and not "return visit" when i read this.

yes--when i first discovered this internet world of ex jw's--what--about 7 years back ? i found a whole new language of cult expressions i never knew existed. COBE ... assembly hall...RBC (is it ? ). now we have CLAM for gawds sake.

i left the cult just as the ELDER arrangement was being rolled out. why did the cult copy the mormons ?

in my early teens i was very gung ho going door knocking--on my own ! one dark tuesday evening i was out knocking--before the tuesday group meeting. this was in Handsworth, Birmingham UK. ( you wouldnt go out at night there these days ).

anyway--i knock door--it opens--and i--a young teenage kid--was confronted by a poor chap who had no nose--just a hole in his face. i think i needed fresh underwear.

a few years later--same area--saturday morning--door opens and a guy is holding a frying pan full of blackened frazzled bacon and sausages--smoke pouring out. he slammed the door in my face. why he answered i the door never knew.

"Prayer" and answers to it , positive / negative ,or is it all in the mind ?

speaking from my own experience and that of my family of wife and two now adult sons do not believe that prayers to jehovah /god are answered .. so it must also be true of all other religions and their believers also.. my wife and i were jw`s for 33 years and and i don`t believe anyone prayed harder than my wife and i at various trials we faced during those times in those 33 years.. we may as well have been like the present day jews who pray to a brick wall .

If you pray long enough and hard enough for rain...your prayers will be answered eventually...this proving there is a god.

i can remember--back in the 60's in birmingham UK--getting their own KH was the dream of most congregations. a spiritual home.. some of the elderly dubs must be seething at this smash and grab raid. i asked a couple what the money was going to be used for--" building halls in africa." having lost their own purpose built hall in a half million pound grab.
